ADA Plans
Procedure for Attaining and Delivering Your ADA Accommodation Plans
- Schedule an intake appointment each semester with the Disability & Access Center (DAC) to request and/or update your disability-related accommodations.
- Once your accommodations have been approved based on your intake appointment and receipt of appropriate documentation, DAC staff will send your ADA Accommodation Plan to your 开云电竞 student e-mail account. If you do not already have a 开云电竞 student e-mail account set up, you will need to do so for Plans to be sent electronically to you.
- You then will be able to electronically forward your Plan using your 开云电竞 student e-mail (NOT a personal e-mail account) to the instructors of classes where you wish to use your accommodations. Be sure to include your course information in your e-mail with the Plan. You also may print the Plan and give it to your instructors. Either way, you are expected to introduce yourself as a student registered in the Disability & Access Center, provide this Plan, and discuss your approved accommodations with your instructors in a confidential setting.
- When you discuss your identified accommodation needs with your instructor, include asking how he/she wishes to handle specific procedures for accommodations, such as out of class testing. If you will be using a support person, such as a personal aide or sign language interpreter in class, explain their role to the instructor.
Remember …
If you do not provide your ADA Accommodation Plan to your instructors, you will not receive accommodations. Accommodations are not retroactive.
If you have any questions or concerns related to your accommodations, contact the Disability & Access Center immediately at 618-235-2700, ext. 5368, or TDD at 618-234-3347, or email DisabilityandAccessCenter@vakshop.com.
Every semester that you want to use accommodations, you will need to make an appointment in the Disability & Access Center. Your Plan will not be automatically developed.
The Disability & Access Center staff is available to assist you in preparing for the discussion with instructors regarding your accommodation needs. Contact the Disability & Access Center if you or your instructors are not certain about how to implement an accommodation.
